Impact Story – Influence of the Arts Nationally & Locally

From weekend plays to global music festivals to museums showcasing priceless works, art undeniably impacts our lives. Every five years, Americans for the Arts  conducts an impact story revealing the significant economic and social influence of the nonprofit arts sector in the US. California, recognizing the enduring benefits of arts, established the California Arts Council Exchange in 1976. The Riverside Arts Council is a local affiliate with many events such as The Riverside Arts Walk and programs including Art as Therapy.

 

Spotlight – The Cheech Marin Center

Aiming to bring Chicano art to the forefront, founding donor and comedian Cheech Marin opens up about how his groundbreaking partnership with the Riverside Art Museum  came to be and how the Cheech Marin Center  was born. Plus, learn about the legacy that Marin hopes the Cheech Center will leave behind as the museum is spotlighted in our segment.

The arts are fundamental in cultivating creativity and self-expression. Take a look at the innovative ways that the Lake Elsinore Unified School District  is incorporating arts into their school curriculums. In addition, learn how flamenco’s rich culture and history were used to empower students.

Community Roundtable – Military Awareness Month
Meet our guests joining us at the Community Roundtable this month:

Eric Faulkner is a U.S. Navy veteran. He is the current chair of the City of Temecula’s Race, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Commission. Faulkner is also currently running for Temecula City Council in District 2.

Raven Hilden is the founder and CEO of the nonprofit MilVet, which aims to serve and support veterans, deployed troops, and their families.
